Department research

Among our research interests belong e.g. English as a global language, applied linguistics, British and American culture studies or literature of English-speaking countries. The results of our research activities are regularly presented at conferences both home and abroad. The department regularly partakes in organizing the ProfiLingua international conference dedicated to the issues of English for specific purposes and multilingualism. The individual department members investigate a colourful palette of topics such as: the rhetoric of British political parties, English as a Lingua Franca, intercultural communicative competences, modern adaptations of Shakespeare’s works, linking academic and business environments with the labour market, contemporary British and American popular culture in the context of political events, etc.
